MANEJO DA DEPRESSÃO EM PACIENTES ONCOLÓGICOS: UMA REVISÃO NARRATIVA

Pacientes com câncer frequentemente apresentam síndromes depressivas, como depressão maior e menor, mais comuns do que na população geral. Este artigo revisa a prevalência, avaliação e manejo de transtornos depressivos unipolares nesses pacientes, destacando a importância de uma abordagem integrada que considere os aspectos psicológicos e físicos do câncer. A revisão foi realizada entre março e junho de 2024, utilizando bases de dados como PubMed e Medline, resultando na análise de 10 artigos relevantes. Os resultados indicam que a depressão em pacientes oncológicos é associada a pior qualidade de vida, menor adesão ao tratamento e prognóstico clínico desfavorável. A depressão é particularmente prevalente entre pacientes com câncer de mama e idosos, exigindo estratégias de tratamento individualizadas que incluem antidepressivos e terapias psicossociais. A identificação precoce e o manejo adequado da depressão são cruciais para melhorar os resultados oncológicos e a qualidade de vida desses pacientes.
