Resumo
A reabilitação dentária utilizando implantes osseointegrados tornou-se comum na
prática odontológica. Com isso, é um desafio para o Cirurgião-Dentista também
saber lidar com possíveis problemas que possam interferir na manutenção a longo
prazo desses implantes, como as infecções peri-implantares. Dependendo do nível
de acometimento por essas infecções, há necessidade de um tipo de intervenção.
Esse trabalho é uma revisão de literatura que visa ressaltar a importância do correto
acompanhamento dos pacientes reabilitados com implantes, para apurar a
sensibilidade do diagnóstico de infecções peri-implantares, sendo possível então,
determinar correto planejamento do tratamento, já que ainda hoje não há protocolos
fixados a serem seguidos. Considerações sobre os tipos de tratamentos existentes
para mucosite e peri-implantite são enumerados, permitindo, assim, uma reflexão
sobre planejamentos possíveis. Os tratamentos vão de procedimentos clínicos
simples de instrução de higiene até tratamentos cirúrgicos. Cada caso e situação
peri-implantar demandam uma conduta a seguir para eliminação da infecção e
inflamação.
