Resumo
O clareamento dental é um procedimento estético amplamente utilizado na prática clínica, motivado pelo desejo dos pacientes por um sorriso mais branco. As técnicas disponíveis incluem o clareamento caseiro, com agentes de baixa concentração, e o clareamento de consultório, que utiliza peróxido de hidrogênio em concentrações de até 40%. No entanto, concentrações elevadas podem causar efeitos adversos aos tecidos dentários duros. Esta revisão de literatura analisou o impacto do clareamento de consultório na morfologia do esmalte dental. A pesquisa foi realizada nas bases PubMed e SciELO, com os descritores “esmalte dental”, “clareamento de consultório”, “clareamento dental”, “dureza”, “rugosidade” e “resistência ácida”, no período de 2019 a 2024. Os resultados indicaram que agentes clareadores afetam negativamente o esmalte, especialmente quando associados a pH ácido e altas concentrações, ressaltando a importância de técnicas adequadas e criteriosa indicação clínica. Conclui-se que o clareamento dental de consultório, embora eficaz e seguro quando bem indicado, pode comprometer as propriedades do esmalte. Dessa forma, é essencial que o profissional esteja atento à escolha do agente clareador e à técnica utilizada, a fim de preservar a integridade do tecido dentário.
