Abstract
Este artigo revisa a literatura atual sobre a relação entre poluição do ar e o aumento de doenças respiratórias crônicas em populações urbanas. A seleção dos artigos foi realizada utilizando a base de dados PubMed com os termos “Urban Air Pollution” AND “Chronic Respiratory Diseases”. A revisão abrange estudos recentes que investigam os impactos de poluentes atmosféricos, como partículas finas (PM2.5) e ozônio, na prevalência de doenças como asma e DPOC, além de analisar estratégias de mitigação, como intervenções urbanas e políticas públicas. A conclusão aponta que a redução da exposição à poluição do ar, aliada a intervenções multissetoriais, pode reduzir significativamente a carga de doenças respiratórias crônicas e melhorar a qualidade de vida em populações urbanas.
