Resumo
Os cuidados paliativos desempenham um papel crucial na melhoria da qualidade de vida de pacientes com doenças avançadas, proporcionando suporte físico, emocional e espiritual. Diversas abordagens têm sido exploradas, incluindo a terapia da dignidade, a integração de cuidados paliativos domiciliares e a utilização de terapias complementares e alternativas. No entanto, desafios persistem, como barreiras cognitivas, culturais e dificuldades de acesso, especialmente em populações vulneráveis, como migrantes e crianças. Além disso, a falta de conscientização sobre cuidados paliativos e equívocos em relação a seu objetivo limitam sua adoção. Este artigo aborda essas questões e discute a importância de intervenções centradas no paciente, educação em saúde e mudanças culturais para otimizar a prestação de cuidados paliativos.
