Abstract

Adhesive Dentistry was created with the aim of minimizing infiltrations, displacements and unnecessary tooth wear. Currently, much is known about the physical and chemical properties of adhesive systems, but more studies are still needed regarding their properties and biological effects. Dental adhesives have two components that deserve attention, BIS-GMA and bisphenol A (PMA), due to their harmful potential already reported in the literature. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the carcinogenic potential of dental adhesive using Drosophilas Melanogaster as an experimental model from the ETT (Epithelial Tumor Test). Drosophilas melanogaster were exposed to six different concentrations of AdperMR Single Bond 2 adhesive (3M do Brasil – Sumaré – São Paulo), namely: 1:20, 1:40, 1:80, 1:160, 1:320 and 1:640 using reverse osmosis water as solvent, in addition to the positive control with Doxorubicin Hydrochloride (DXR) and the negative control with reverse osmosis water. A comparison of the results obtained with the control groups was performed and it was possible to observe that there is a decrease in carcinogenic activity as there is an increase in the dilutions of the patch. However, more research is needed to affirm its carcinogenicity.
