This article reviews the scientific literature on the collaboration between general surgery and orthopedics in the management of complex traumatic fractures, with an emphasis on clinical challenges and multidisciplinary approaches to treatment. The research was conducted in the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases, using the terms "Complex traumatic fractures, General surgery, Orthopedics, Multidisciplinary approaches, Treatment." The analysis reveals that complex traumatic fractures, such as open fractures associated with vascular, nerve, or muscular injuries, are one of the leading causes of morbidity in traumatized patients, requiring a rapid and effective response. The therapeutic approach involves a combination of surgical interventions, including bone stabilization, soft tissue debridement, and repair of damaged vascular or nerve structures. Internal and external fixation techniques, as well as the use of grafts and prostheses, have been crucial for the success of treatment. Advances in management, such as the use of new fixation devices and early rehabilitation protocols, have shown significant improvements in the functional recovery of patients.
