Abstract
This article reports on a study that assessed the influence and impact of physical activity on the healthy aging process among the elderly population. An integrative literature review was conducted to conduct the study. The results showed that regular physical exercise, especially resistance exercises and moderate activities – such as Pilates, yoga, and weight training – plays a fundamental role in improving muscle functionality and preventing muscle mass loss. In this sense, nutritional interventions associated with exercise have also demonstrated positive effects.
