Abstract

Objective: The goal of the present study it is to relate a case of mandibular third molar surgery, using the medical records, describing a transient lingual nerve paresthesia and relating the time of paresthesia and the evolution. Methods: Through de analysis of the medical records of the patients treated at the clinic of the odontoligical complex at the University Center of Serra Gaúcha- FSG, a medical record of a patient who did a third molar extraction and resulted in tongue paresthesia were selected. Results: The total recovery of the patient took 5 months. We didn't strarted any drug interventions because it was visible into the tongue maping the regression of the paresthesia. Conclusion: The follow up of the tongue paresthesia brought satisfactory results in the matters of function. The patient monitoring observing the spontaneous comeback of function, without interventions in a period of six months, therefore promoting an excelent result considering the case limitations
