Abstract

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease that causes scaly, red rashes that can be itchy and painful. There are several types, including a rare type called pustular psoriasis. This study aims to evaluate the process of generalized pustular psoriasis, from the process of formation, development, as well as the form of treatment. A general approach to the topic was carried out in literature reviews of scientific articles and reference books on the subject. Pustular psoriasis is characterized by skin lesions with pustules (pus-filled blisters) on a base of red, inflamed skin. These pustules can appear on small areas of the skin or can spread throughout the body. Pustular psoriasis can be painful and may be accompanied by fever, chills, severe itching. IL-1 and IL-36 family members play a key role in regulating inflammatory activity in the skin. The IL-36 pathway has recently emerged as a central axis driving pathogenic inflammatory mechanisms, secretion of IL-36 by keratinocytes or inflammatory cells and subsequent stimulation of autocrine and paracrine pathways results in an enhanced autoinflammatory and autoimmune response mediated by several cytokines important. In this sense, recent advances related to the discovery of IL-36 as a central node are driving the development of innovative treatments for GPP and other autoinflammatory skin diseases.
