Abstract

The coexistence of HIV and tuberculosis presents complex challenges for global health, especially in underdeveloped countries. Co-infection demands specific treatments, faces adherence challenges, and faces social issues including stigma, highlighting the need for comprehensive approaches to controlling these diseases. The objective of the work is to epidemiologically analyze new cases of HIV/TB co-infection. The epidemiological analysis of new cases of HIV/TB co-infection reveals notable variations over the years, with a worrying increase in 2022. The predominance among men and the racial majority among mixed-race people highlight the importance of considering demographic factors when addressing these co-infections. Furthermore, the complex relationship between antiretroviral use, AIDS-associated immunosuppression, and TB incidence highlights the need to understand and appropriately address adherence to antiretroviral therapy as a crucial component in the management of co-infection.
