Abstract

Sleep disorders encompass a range of conditions that significantly impact health, quality of life, and individual productivity. This article presents a systematic review of current approaches and explores future perspectives in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, such as insomnia, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and circadian rhythm disorders. Drawing from recognized databases, the research focused on studies published in the last ten years. Diagnostic techniques have evolved to include sophisticated polysomnographic methods and actigraphy, while treatment approaches ranged from pharmacological interventions - dominated by benzodiazepines and non-benzodiazepines - to cognitive-behavioral therapies and emerging technological solutions. This review highlights the importance of personalized treatment for sleep disorders and the need for further research into long-term therapies and the integration of new technologies in clinical management. Limitations of current studies include heterogeneity and a lack of standardized protocols, pointing to the need for more stringent guidelines. In conclusion, current research suggests a multimodal approach to the treatment of sleep disorders, emphasizing the synergy between accurate diagnosis, careful pharmacological therapy, and behavioral and technological interventions.
