Abstract

The use of e-cigarettes has grown significantly, especially among young people. Although they are advertised as being less harmful than traditional cigarettes, recent studies indicate that these devices can negatively affect oral health. Among the most observed effects are gum inflammation, changes in the oral microbiota, reduced salivary flow and increased predisposition to infections such as oral candidiasis. This review focuses on presenting the impacts of e-cigarette use on oral cavity tissues, based on current scientific evidence.
