Abstract
The aim of this study is to present the main advances regarding acute myocardial infarction, primarily focusing on diagnosis and management. Secondly, it highlights the main treatments against the disease. In Brazil and globally, Acute Myocardial Infarction is one of the leading causes of death. One of the crucial elements for the morbidity and mortality of this condition is the time interval between the onset of symptoms and the start of treatment. The importance of electrocardiography in diagnosis stands out, combined with biochemical and imaging indicators, as well as the necessary actions to restore coronary circulation, including the use of medications such as analgesics, anticoagulants, and fibrinolytic therapies. Therefore, the importance of seeking medical assistance when the first signs and symptoms appear is emphasized, in order to identify and implement the necessary interventions to preserve quality of life.
