Abstract
The objective was to report the experience of medical students in the construction and execution of an extension project aimed at health promotion and prevention of Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) among employees of a public citizen service in a municipality in Bahia. The extension project involved conducting an investigative screening of the target audience to identify possible signs and symptoms associated with chronic non-communicable diseases, particularly SAH, and to refer them for medical clinical evaluation as needed. Additionally, it enabled the execution of an educational effort focused on health promotion and SAH prevention through the development, dissemination, and discussion of an educational booklet. The implemented actions proved to be easily applicable, low-cost, with potential replicability in other population settings, and also promoted the enhancement of communication, technical, and clinical skills of medical students.
