Abstract
Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) is an acute inflammatory polyradiculoneuropathy associated with infectious processes and, in some cases, immunizations. With the advancement of COVID-19 vaccination, reports have emerged regarding a possible relationship between immunization and the development of GBS. This study conducted an integrative literature review to analyze the incidence of GBS in individuals vaccinated against COVID-19. Articles published between 2020 and 2024 were searched in the EMBASE, Medline/PubMed, Cochrane Library, Science Direct, and Scielo databases using descriptors related to the syndrome and vaccination. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 16 articles were analyzed. The results suggest that some vaccines, particularly viral vector-based ones, may have a higher association with the development of GBS, although the causal relationship remains unclear. Additional epidemiological studies are needed to understand the immunological mechanisms involved and ensure vaccine safety.
