Abstract

This article aims to review the literature on the influence of the vaginal microbiome on female reproductive health, with an emphasis on its implications for infertility and gynecological diseases. The databases LILACS, SCIELO, BDENF, and MEDLINE were used for article selection, employing the descriptors “Vaginal Microbiome,” “Female Infertility,” “Gynecological Diseases,” and “Reproductive Health,” combined with the Boolean operator AND. It is concluded that the balance of the vaginal microbiota, especially the predominance of Lactobacillus spp., is associated with better reproductive outcomes, while vaginal dysbiosis may increase the risks of infertility, infections, and gynecological disorders.
