Abstract

ABSTRACT

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is commonly used to treat hypogonadism, with the aim of restoring hormone levels and promoting overall health improvement. However, this therapy can cause adverse effects on reproductive function. The aim of this study is to analyze the therapeutic challenges involved in testosterone replacement in men with hypogonadism, focusing on the repercussions for fertility and the strategies available to preserve it. The research is based on an integrative review carried out through a bibliographic survey in the PubMed and SciELO databases. The results show that the interruption of TTh, associated with the use of HCG and clomiphene, has been shown to be partially effective in restoring spermatogenesis in cases of infertility related to hypogonadism. However, further studies are needed to improve these approaches. It is concluded that, although testosterone replacement is effective in treating hypogonadism, it can impair fertility. With appropriate interventions, it is possible to preserve fertility and obtain better reproductive results. Keywords: testosterone, hypogonadism, infertility.
