Abstract

This article aims to conduct a scientific literature review on the integrated approach to the treatment of bipolar disorder, emphasizing combined therapeutic methods, clinical efficacy, and impact on patients' quality of life. For this purpose, the search engines PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science were used, with the keywords "Bipolar disorder, Integrated treatment, Psychotherapy, Mood stabilizers." The review revealed that bipolar disorder, due to its complexity, requires multimodal interventions that combine the use of mood stabilizers, psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, and psychoeducational support. Integrated strategies proved effective in improving treatment adherence, reducing relapses, and stabilizing mood in the long term. The combination of medications, such as lithium and anticonvulsants, with psychological therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and family-focused therapy, showed superior results compared to isolated approaches. Furthermore, promoting healthy habits, such as sleep regulation and physical exercise, proved essential in managing symptoms and improving patients' quality of life.
