Abstract

Introduction: Congenital heart diseases represent diverse structural malformations emerging during embryonic development, ranging from minor defects to life-threatening anomalies. Early diagnosis is critical for effective management and improved patient outcomes. Objective: This review evaluates the diagnostic efficacy of computed tomography angiography (CTA) in congenital heart diseases. Methodology: A literature review was conducted using databases like PubMed and Web of Science, focusing on studies from 2014 onward. Articles that specifically evaluated the efficacy of CTA in diagnosing congenital heart conditions were included. Results: CTA provides high-resolution 3D images crucial for diagnosing congenital heart defects. It excels in detailing small blood vessels and optimizing preoperative planning due to its rapid image acquisition. However, radiation exposure and contrast agent use pose risks, especially in pediatric populations. Conclusion: CTA is a highly effective diagnostic tool in managing congenital heart diseases due to its superior spatial resolution. Further research is essential to minimize radiation exposure while maintaining imaging quality, and to train medical professionals in its usage. Collaborative studies are needed to confirm its expanded application.
