Abstract
Introduction: DM1 and its complications are factors that can significantly compromise quality of life (QoL). Objectives: To evaluate the association between complications and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with DM1. Methods: This is an observational-descriptive, cross-sectional study, carried out with 22 patients with DM1, followed up at the Outpatient Service of the Endocrinology Unit of the João Barros Barreto University Hospital (HUJBB) between August 2021 and January 2022 HRQOL was assessed using questionnaires validated in the literature for this purpose, namely the Diabetes Quality of Life Measure (DQOL) and EuroQol. Results: 45.5% of participants had chronic complications related to DM1, this group had higher scores in the impact domain of the DQOL when compared to those without complications (M1 51 and M2 37, respectively). Conclusion: DM1 patients with complications and previous hospitalization were more likely to have low HRQoL
