Abstract

Psychiatric disorders often present with cutaneous manifestations, as the connection between the mind and skin is well-established in the scientific literature. This study aimed to identify and analyze the most prevalent psychiatric disorders associated with cutaneous manifestations and understand their clinical interrelations. An integrative review was conducted in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) and Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS) databases, using the descriptors “psychiatric disorders,” “cutaneous manifestations,” and “psychodermatology,” combined with Boolean operators. Studies published between 2019 and 2024 in Portuguese, English, or Spanish were included. Results showed that conditions such as depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorders frequently manifest through skin alterations like atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and alopecia areata. It is concluded that interdisciplinary management is essential for the effective diagnosis and treatment of these cases.
