Abstract
This systematic review article explores advanced therapeutic approaches in the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), highlighting a variety of interventions that, when integrated, offer more effective and personalized care for individuals with ASD. The review included technological, behavioral, pharmacological, and psychosocial interventions, addressing both the core symptoms of ASD and associated comorbidities. Technological interventions, such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and mobile applications, have shown promise in promoting the development of social and cognitive skills in a safe and adaptive environment. On the other hand, behavioral and sensory interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and sensory integration therapy, demonstrated effectiveness in emotional regulation and adaptive behavior. Pharmacological approaches, including the use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and specific diets, were effective in managing symptoms like aggression and repetitive behaviors. Psychosocial interventions, such as family therapy, mindfulness practices, and expressive therapies, complement these approaches by providing essential emotional and social support. The review emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary and personalized approach, integrating different types of interventions to maximize therapeutic benefits. However, some limitations were identified, including the need for more longitudinal studies and the inclusion of underrepresented populations, such as adults with ASD. The conclusions underscore the potential of an integrated approach to transform care and improve the quality of life for individuals with ASD.
