Abstract
Introduction: Leiomyomas are the most common tumors of the uterus and pelvis. They have high morbidity and constitute the majority of surgical indications in gynecology. In order to preserve the fertility of young women and ensure a less traumatic procedure, robotic surgery has emerged as an effective technique in the treatment of this pathology. Methodology: An inactive review was carried out in the PubMed and Virtual Health Library databases, with the guiding research question: What are the impacts of robotic surgery in the treatment of uterine myomatosis? The descriptors “robotic surgery” and “myomectomy” were used. 16 publications were used between 2014 and 2014, without any language restrictions. Results and Discussion: Robotic surgery provides better results compared to open surgery. It consists of less bridle formation, less blood loss, less hospital stay and complications. It is capable of removing a greater number of tumors and progressing in unfavorable locations. Compared to laparoscopic surgery, the robotic modality did not demonstrate significant differences when performed by a qualified gynecological surgeon and with a large patient flow. There were no different results, although robotic surgery involved greater time and costs. Conclusion: Even with increasing use, the application of robotic surgery faces challenges. The advantages of this surgical modality were not sufficient to make it the gold standard in the treatment of uterine myomatosis when compared to laparoscopy.
