Abstract

According to the WHO, in 2019, 970 million people had mental disorders, with 15% of working-age adults experiencing psychosis. Brazil has the highest proportion of anxious people (9.3%). This work aims to identify and analyze the epidemiological profile of hospital morbidity due to neurotic disorders related to stress and somatic symptoms in Brazil. This study is ecological, quantitative and retrospective, using data from the SUS Hospital Morbidity Information System (SIH/SUS) from DATASUS. The variables considered were: region, type of service, age group, sex and color/race. Between 2019 and 2023, there were 15,354 hospitalizations for neurotic disorders related to stress and somatic symptoms in Brazil. Of these, 89.48% were emergencies. The majority of patients were between 20 and 29 years old (22.47%), 65.85% of whom were women. Regarding color/race, 39.18% were white, 35.63% mixed race and 18.24% without information.
