Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the main causes of mortality among women in Brazil, especially in the State of Amazonas, where challenges in accessing healthcare are most pronounced. This review investigates new prevention policies for cervical cancer, with the aim of reducing the incidence and mortality of the disease in the region. The research uses the literature review method, analyzing existing prevention policies, identifying barriers and challenges specific to Amazonas, and exploring examples of success in similar contexts. The study will analyze information from databases such as PubMed, Scielo, Google Scholar, and information from the Brazilian Ministry of Health. Publications from the last 10 years were included that address cervical cancer prevention policies in contexts similar to Amazonas, available in Portuguese, English and Spanish. The expected results include the identification of gaps in current policies and the proposition of new strategies adapted to the geographic, socioeconomic and cultural characteristics of Amazonas. These proposals include implementing health education programs, expanding HPV vaccination coverage and improving access to screening and early treatment. It is believed that these new policies can significantly contribute to reducing the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer in the region.
