Impacts of the National Primary Care Policy for Brazilian Public Health

Abstract

Introduction: The fundamental changes included in the new version of the PNAB, enable offerings of services and actions in primary care, strengthening the family strategy model as a priority. community health agents, enabling offers of services and actions in primary care, thus strengthening the family strategy model as a priority. Objective: To analyze the impacts of implementing the 2017 PNAB on Brazilian public health. Metodología: This is an integrative literature review study carried out using the Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Nursing Database (BDENF) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) databases. Thus, for research in the databases, the Descriptors in Health Sciences (Decs) associated with the Boolean operational connectors “AND”, being: “Health Policy AND Primary Health Care AND Brazil”. Results: The 2017 National Primary Care Policy (PNAB) brought significant changes to Brazilian public health, among which we can highlight: the possibility of having Family Health Strategy (ESF) teams with a single Community Health Agent ( ACS) and Primary Care teams (eAP).The changes arising from the new National Primary Care Policy, it is clear that there is a fine line between flexibility in care models and the risk of making Primary Care synonymous with Minimum Care. Conclusion: Some of the changes made to the National Primary Care Policy cause changes associated with care models, also linked to resource limitations.
