Abstract
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious respiratory disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, the transmission of this infectious agent occurs from person to person through inhalation of aerosols produced by coughing, sneezing or talking of people infected by the bacillus that causes the disease. Its general objective is to describe the role of nurses in the primary approach to tuberculosis treatment. This study is an integrative, qualitative descriptive literature review. Scientific articles from the following databases were used: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Latin American Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Virtual Health Library (VHL). The types of studies selected present an average of 80% of the integrative literature study type, 15% of the descriptive-qualitative study type with a quantitative approach, 2.5% of the qualitative categorical analysis study type and 2.5% of the study narrative review of scientific literature, with the methodological approach of integrative literature present in more than 80% of the articles. This research will provide a valuable opportunity to highlight the need and importance of preparing health professionals to receive patients with tuberculosis to monitor adequate and qualified treatment through care protocols that must be respected, keeping employees constantly updated with training professional training.
