Abstract
The objective of this review is to expose the main concepts regarding the definitions, diagnosis and therapy of sepsis in pediatrics, in addition to commenting on the most recent scientific literary works. This is a narrative review of a critical and analytical nature, in research on the main concepts regarding sepsis in pediatrics, in addition to management. A review of articles was carried out in the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrievel System Online (MEDLINE), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and PubMed databases, with the following Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS): Criteria; Management; Pediatrics; Sepsis. Selecting articles between the periods of 2005 and 2024, in English, Spanish and Portuguese, to increase the level of relevance and quality of the review, in addition to the technical-scientific basis coming from literary works renowned in history. Because of these descriptions. Regarding the state of sepsis in pediatric patients, even with technological, therapeutic and protocol advances, it continues to be a complex condition with high morbidity. Still needing better approaches and more definitions of management in the pediatric field. Furthermore, early identification and individualized and appropriate management would change the prognosis of these conditions and prevent the emergence of permanent sequelae.
