INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH IN THE MANAGEMENT OF PATIENTS WITH RECURRING SEIZURES

Abstract

This article addresses the issue of seizures and epilepsy from ancient times to the present day, highlighting the evolution of understanding of these conditions and the persistent challenges in their management and treatment. Over the centuries, advances in medicine have allowed a clearer understanding of seizures, demystifying old interpretations and highlighting their neurological nature. However, significant challenges remain in addressing these conditions, especially in the context of the interdisciplinary approach required to provide comprehensive, integrated care to patients. This is a narrative literature review as a research methodology, aiming to deepen the understanding of the current state of knowledge about the interdisciplinary approach in the management of patients with seizures. The research was conducted through several databases, including scientific journals, books and other important resources related to the field of health and neurology. To select the studies included in this review, inclusion criteria were established that considered the relevance of the articles for the research objective, the methodological quality of the studies and the timeliness of the publications. After identifying relevant studies, a critical analysis and synthesis of the main findings were carried out, highlighting the most effective interdisciplinary approaches in the management of seizures. This analysis included evaluating the effectiveness of different interventions, identifying gaps in knowledge, and discussing challenges and opportunities for clinical practice and future research. The results and discussion highlighted the contextualization of convulsive crises and their origin as well as their etiology, difficulties, estimates and interdisciplinary approach, aiming to guarantee adequate assistance to patients affected by this illness.
