Abstract

Motor physiotherapy plays an essential role in promoting health and rehabilitating people impacted by various conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system. According to the PICO strategy, the following question was raised: In critically ill patients in the ICU, what is the impact of motor physiotherapy in preventing musculoskeletal complications? The aim of the work was to elucidate the impact of motor physiotherapy on the prevention of musculoskeletal complications in the intensive setting. To this end, an integrative, descriptive bibliographic review was carried out, based on the Scielo, Lilacs, PubMed and Google Scholar databases. Overall, 14 scientific articles were used that offered the theoretical bases of the investigation and were directly linked to the topic. To search the databases, the Boolean operators “and” “or” and not” were used. The work highlighted the importance of motor physiotherapy in preventing musculoskeletal disorders and its benefits, however, the practice still needs more encouragement to expand its implementation.
