Abstract
Introduction: The interconnection between personality disorders and suicidal behavior is a complex and delicate domain in mental health. The intricate relationship between these two dimensions, recognizing that personality disorders not only shape how individuals perceive and interact with the world, but also significantly influence their risk of self-destructive behaviors, such as suicide. Personality disorders, characterized by persistent patterns of thinking, behavior and relationships, have been associated with a range of psychological and social challenges. In this context, it is observed that the presence of these disorders can increase the vulnerability of individuals to intense emotional crises, making them potentially more susceptible to the development of suicidal behaviors. Objectives: Show the relationship between personality disorder and suicidal behavior developed by patients with this disorder, also showing the treatment behaviors carried out by health professionals. Methodology: This article's research method is an exploratory, analytical study of a descriptive nature, using the Integrative Literature Review (RIL) as a technique. Through databases: Nursing Database (BDENF), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), PubMed, Latin American Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS). Various types of publications were consulted, including scientific articles, monographs and magazines, with the aim of obtaining relevant information on the topic, totaling 20 articles. Results and Discussions: The prevalence of suicidal behavior in patients with disorders shows high rates of suicide ideation, suicide attempts and the practice of self-harm. The dysfunctional patterns presented by these patients contribute substantially to the increase in risk, with difficulties in establishing and maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships being observed, which can intensify the development of loneliness and isolation. Therefore, the crucial role of the support network that includes friends, family and healthcare professionals is crucial for the patient's improvement, to play a significant role in emotional stabilization and crisis prevention. Conclusion: Analysis of the relationship between personality disorders and suicidal behavior highlights the urgency of integrated approaches to prevention and intervention. The results highlight the significant influence of dysfunctional relationship patterns and emotional vulnerability, emphasizing the need for specific therapies, such as CBT and DBT. The promotion of a solid support network and the integration of pharmacological treatments are crucial. Ultimately, understanding this complex interaction is vital for implementing effective strategies that aim to improve quality of life and reduce the risk of suicidal behaviors in this challenging mental health context.
