Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer and fourth most common cause of cancer-related death. It is directly related to lifestyle, environmental, genetic and age factors. The main protocol developed for CRC screening is the search for occult blood in feces, although the precursor form, colorectal adenoma, takes around 10 years to progress as a tumor. Given this, good eating habits associated with frequent physical exercise are essential, both for those who have a genetic predisposition and for those who do not. OBJECTIVE: To analyze multidisciplinary care in the treatment of colorectal malignant neoplasms in adults in Brazil from 2017 to 2022. METHODOLOGY: Descriptive cross-sectional study with a quantitative and qualitative approach, based on the collection of data present in the Notifiable Diseases Information System, hosted at DATASUS on Neoplasms Colorectal malignancies in adults, reported in Brazil between the periods of 2017 and 2022. The data totaled 194,475 cases in this period. The indicators used were: federation units; gender; age group; education; evolution of the case and region of occurrence; colorectal neoplasms. For the literature review, the keywords and the main subject about Colorectal Malignant Neoplasms were relevant using the SciELO and PubMed database platforms. Articles published in the last 17 years were selected and focused on describing the cause of the main forms of proliferation and defining the problems that increase the infection of the Brazilian population. RESULTS: Brazil carried out immediate compulsory notification of 194,472 cases between 2017 and 2022. The southeast region had the highest occurrence with 93,447 (48.05%). The gender that presented the greatest manifestations of colorectal malignancy was males, accounting for 102,014 (52.45%) of the reports. São Paulo reported the highest number of deaths with 30.11% (4,546) of the total in Brazil. Regarding the correlation with color, whites were the occurrence, with 99,345 (51.08%), with blacks representing 4.41% (n=8,588) of cases of colorectal malignancy. CONCLUSION: The development of Colorectal Malignant Neoplasms is strictly linked to lifestyle and genetic relationships, revealing their higher incidence in recent years. Difficulties in the Brazilian reality, such as socioeconomic inequalities, the population's lack of knowledge about this type of cancer and lack of or difficulty in accessing healthcare, explain the low rate of diagnoses and treatments. Reinforcing the need for primary care through nursing technicians, nurses and doctors in UBS (Basic Health Units) with educational campaigns for prevention and early diagnosis, in addition to better training of doctors regarding the possibility of CRC.
