Resumo

Nos tratamentos ortodônticos, o fator mais comum da descolagem dos braquetes ortodônticos é a força mastigatória contínua, mas outros fatores também podem estar relacionados, como os tratamentos clareadores. Esta revisão sistemática objetiva analisar a influência dos agentes clareadores nos valores de resistência ao cisalhamento (RCS) dos braquetes ortodônticos. Foi realizada busca nos bancos de dados PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase e Google Scholar com base na ferramenta PRISMA, na aplicação da estratégia PICO e dos critérios de inclusão e exclusão, sendo selecionados 11 artigos para análise e discussão. Tanto o peróxido de carbamida como o peróxido de hidrogênio afetam o valor de resistência ao cisalhamento (RCS), tendo, a maioria dos estudos, concordado com a necessidade de ampliar o tempo entre o clareamento dental e a colocação dos braquetes ortodônticos, para evitar a fratura da adesão dos braquetes. Embora existam diferentes variações de períodos de espera, os resultados desta revisão destacaram que um período de duas semanas foi o mais comum. Além disso, autores sugerem a utilização de produtos em pacientes onde não é possível atrasar a fase ortodôntica. Infere-se que o tipo de clareamento e sua concentração afetam negativamente o valor do RCS, mas existem outros fatores que podem desempenhar um papel adicional, como o tipo de braquete e o tipo de adesivo.
