Resumo
Introdução: A infecção do enxerto sinusal com consequente rinossinusite bacteriana aguda (ABRS) é uma complicação que pode ocorrer durante o período pós-operatório de cirurgia de aumento sinusal. Um pequeno grupo de bactérias parece predominar no ABRS, e essas bactérias são empiricamente suscetíveis aos antibióticos da tetraciclina, impedindo a presença de cepas resistentes. Historicamente, os clínicos misturam tetraciclina com vários biomateriais ou biomateriais hidratados em uma solução diluída de tetraciclina no tratamento da doença periodontal e para indicações de preservação / aumento da crista.
Apresentação do caso: No presente caso, um homem afro-americano de 39 anos de idade com infecção do enxerto sinusal e sinais e sintomas consistentes com o ABRS foi tratado com sucesso removendo o material inicial do enxerto, desbridando e irrigando completamente o antro e colocando um osso liofilizado aloenxerto hidratado em uma solução aquosa de tetraciclina.
Conclusão: Dadas as bactérias típicas presentes no ABRS, a tetraciclina aplicada localmente pode ser útil profilaticamente na cirurgia de elevação do seio ou como adjuvante no tratamento da infecção pós-operatória do enxerto sinusal.
