Resumo
A microbiota intestinal tem um papel crucial na saúde geral, incluindo a saúde mental. As cepas de Bifidobacterium longum são consideradas habitantes comensais do trato gastrointestinal e sua presença é associada a efeitos benéficos no humor e na redução da ansiedade. Objetivo: Avaliar a correlação entre hábitos de vida, composição da microbiota intestinal, em especial as cepas de Bifidobacterium longum, e a saúde mental em adultos. Metodologia: Um estudo transversal foi conduzido em Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, com 130 pacientes adultos. Amostras fecais foram coletadas e analisadas para a presença de Bifidobacterium longum. Dados sobre hábitos de vida e saúde mental foram obtidos por meio de questionários validados no Brasil. Resultados: A análise revelou que estilos de vida saudáveis, incluindo sono equilibrado, dieta balanceada e atividade física regular, estão positivamente correlacionados com a presença de Bifidobacterium longum e melhores indicadores de saúde mental. Os resultados sugerem que intervenções no estilo de vida podem modular a composição da microbiota intestinal, impactando positivamente ou negativamente na saúde mental. Conclusão: Promover hábitos de vida saudáveis pode ser uma estratégia eficaz para melhorar a saúde mental através da modulação da microbiota intestinal.
