PRENATAL CARE IN PRIMARY CARE: NURSING CONSULTATIONS TODAY

Abstract

ABSTRACT 

Introduction: It is essential to understand how nurses and the health team, through nursing care management, contribute to supporting planning, organization, coordination, evaluation and care in Primary Health Care (PHC) with a view to providing a positive and healthy pregnancy and motherhood/fatherhood. The study seeks to describe the role of nurses today, such as consultations and a series of actions aimed at promoting and preventing injuries and diseases, early diagnosis and treatment of diseases that can affect the mother-child binomial during pregnancy. Objective: To describe the actions provided by nurses in prenatal consultations in Primary Care (PC). Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, with qualitative and descriptive approaches, with the aim of selecting and analyzing information on the subject, emphasizing relevant aspects in this process. The data researched were bibliographic data through electronic means, such as the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Acervo Index Base, Google Scholar, LILACS and BDEnf. Results and Discussion: The nursing consultation aims to prevent complications and promote maternal health in the pregnancy and puerperium cycle. Some women may present complications, situations that may require specialized monitoring, identified during prenatal care. These women are referred to high-risk prenatal care. In this context, it is reinforced that, for the prenatal nursing consultation to be more effective, it is necessary for the nurse to use the SAE, the implementation of the SAE needs to be a daily practice. Conclusion: The prenatal consultations carried out by the nurse in the Basic Health Unit (UBS) are an essential moment to offer necessary guidance during pregnancy and the puerperium.
