Resumo
O Saturnismo, ou também conhecido como Plumbismo acontece devido ao acúmulo de Chumbo (Pb) no sangue, encontrado em pilhas, tintas, minérios e resíduos industriais. Ao ser ingerido ou inalado, há um acúmulo sérico desse elemento, podendo ocasionar um quadro de intoxicação aguda ou ainda cursar com um quadro crônico, após um longo tempo de exposição.
Objetivo: Investigar, interpretar e revisar os achados sobre o Saturnismo e sua relação com as políticas públicas, uma vez que esse metal pesado tóxico e hostil à saúde humana se aloca nas águas e nos solos, sendo prejudicial principalmente às crianças, gestantes e pessoas em vulnerabilidade social.
Metodologia: Utilizou-se a base Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE/Pubmed), sob os descritores Saturnism AND health policies, com seleção de artigos de revisão e artigos originais, seguindo critérios de elegibilidade. Foram encontrados 363 textos, com seleção inicial de 86, dos quais restaram 53 artigos elegíveis.
Resultados: os artigos, redigidos em língua inglesa, contemplavam também publicações de autores e periódicos de diferentes nacionalidades. A maioria dos artigos abrangiam o ano de 2020 (16) e a grande parte foi publicada nos últimos três anos.
Considerações finais: A enfermidade foi observada de modo mais preponderante em cidadãos submetidos à condição de vulnerabilidade social, escassez de recursos e em zonas de maior criminalidade, portanto é ímpar a necessidade de políticas públicas voltadas à essa população, principalmente gestantes e crianças pois os impactos nessa classe são maiores, de reverter essa situação, a fim de evitar os efeitos colaterais da doença.
